Leading With Nice has everything to do with marketing and communications

Communicating your message well is one of the most important qualities of a leader. Whether that leader be an individual inside an organization or the business or nonprofit itself. And Leading With Nice is leading with six traits that have been proven to help increase more leads, get more conversions and grow revenue.

The six qualities of Leading With Nice

Gratitude
Empathy
Trust
Honesty
Generosity
Service

For the individual: Saying thank you has never gone out of fashion. Nice leaders show appreciation for their colleagues in meaningful ways. They don’t wait for the big events or huge successes to show it either, they show gratitude in a timely and appropriate way.

For the company or nonprofit: Thank you can be as simple as a follow-up email after a transaction expressing your thanks. As gratitude gets bigger, it gets more personal. An automated message will be appreciated but a phone call from the founder communicates so much more, for example.

For the individual: By definition, empathy is the ability to understand and share the feelings of another. But for the Nice Leader it goes beyond that. The Nice Leader invokes empathy to help build successful relationships. They understand empathy is a main ingredient in helping understand the needs and intentions of others.

For the company or nonprofit: Empathy at an organizational level is to appreciate the process your customer or donor has embarked on in order to be in relationship with you. Using this mindset allows the people working in your organization to have a shared mindset in how they interact with them.

For the individual: Trust helps keep things moving quickly. Trust is what lets you take the next steps on a project without having to double check with your manager and lets you work on something else while others complete a task. Nice leaders create environments where trust is an incubator for amazing things to happen and when it isn’t amazing, trust that next time it will be.

For the company or nonprofit: Trust is transparency and authenticity.

As deep fake technology like Google’s assistant that can make hair appointments for you on the phone, and TikTokers can look and sound just like Tom Cruise, customers and donors will seek to be move closer to those who they know with absolution. This will only accelerate as companies setup shop in the Metaverse and as we interact with others wearing digital skins, we wonder what is actually real.

For the individual: Without honesty, Nice Leaders cannot practice the other five qualities. Honesty is the value that allows the Nice Leader to communicate and quantify what is required for the other qualities to flourish. In the hands of a Nice Leader, honesty is a powerful value that defeats gossip, resentment and ushers in a healthy and productive workplace.

For the company or nonprofit: Trumpeting what you do with excellence and being forthright about what your limitations are is the backbone of organizational honesty. Being honest is so refreshing for customers and donors and it pays dividends in building reputation capital.

For the individual: Generosity means so much more to a Nice Leader than just what comes out of their wallet. Giving their time to help others learn a new skill or better their empathy is just as powerful as paying for a round of coffee at break. Taking time to share knowledge and experience with those you lead is a valuable investment.

For the company or nonprofit: Unexpected delights, empowering your employees to say yes when a no is unexpected or being lenient when working with a new customer or donor. Generosity doesn’t have to mean delivering the sun and the moon, it can mean being generous with your grace or being generous with your compassion as well.

For the individual: Service lies at the heart of Leading With Nice, without it the other values are born out of selfishness. What can you do for others to help them achieve their goals? Committing to be of service to others will ultimately help you achieve your objectives.

For the company or nonprofit: Beyond providing a good or service for someone, how are you being of service? More and more, customers and donors are looking to align themselves with companies and nonprofits who express themselves just as much by how they serve their community as how they serve stakeholders.

Our Promise

1

All of our work is done in-house. We do not contract out any of our services and everyone who works on your project will have first been hired to work at Leading With Nice — we field-test everyone on our own business before introducing them to yours.

2

Expert StoryBrand consulting. We first began using the StoryBrand framework in the mid-2000s when it was introduced. Since then, we have developed hundreds of marketing and communications assets using StoryBrand and we continue to revisit the training.

3

If you’re not happy with our work, you can opt out at any point. There are three approaches we always take: we don’t nickel and dime — every project has pricing transparency, your satisfaction is the priority and we will leave you and your organization better than when we arrived. If we fail to live up to this promise or if you are unhappy, we will release you from the remainder of the contract.
